A 'JOB club' in Weaverham is urging those looking for work to come along for practical help and advice.

National charity Christians Against Poverty provides a friendly and fun place for those seeking employment to get free help.

Run weekly at The Stronghold Hub cafe in Forster Avenue, it offers support from trained coaches to help you gain more confidence.

A spokesman said: "Did you know the unemployment rate is historically low?

"We’re obviously delighted to hear that more people are in work but that’s not much comfort if you’re the one still unemployed.

"Unemployment makes people feel discouraged and we see that all the time.

"We run a CAP Job Club in Weaverham which rebuilds self-confidence by discovering you are not alone and can learn new skills together with others.”

The club is one of more than 160 across the UK, helping 1,000 people find work annually through CV writing and interview tips, as well as volunteering opportunities.

At the heart of the course is a supportive group where course members can share their experiences, struggles and advice. In addition, each is given one-to-one coaching to develop their strengths and identify opportunities.

Simon Palmer, CAP Job Club manager, said: “Whether you’ve been out of work for a while or maybe you want to change jobs but aren’t sure how to start – this course is for you.

"As it stands one in four people nationally that have attended a CAP Job Club have found employment.”

The job club runs every Wednesday morning for eight weeks. It starts on Wednesday, February 5 at 10am, with a free lunch offered afterwards.
