PLANS for factory-built homes on an area of the Wirral Waters site have been approved.

Peel L&P and award-winning regeneration company Urban Splash, had formally submitted a planning application to the Council to build a £55m development of 347 modular homes.

They have now been given permission to build the first phase of 30.

It is the first phase of a £55m deal to build 347 new homes under the Peel L&P and Urban Splash 50/50 joint venture.

Planning consent includes the customisable Town House from House by Urban Splash, which will launch for sale next spring.

Permission has also been granted for the first Row House homes, the newest product in the House by Urban Splash modular portfolio. Row House has been designed by Liverpool-based architects Shedkm and will be unveiled to the market in 2020.

Richard Mawdsley, director of development at Peel L&P, said: "East Float will be a huge draw for those wanting to take advantage of the very latest in modular housing design and I am delighted that the first wave of this development has now been approved by Wirral Council.

"It's an exciting start for this area of the development, which will be delivered in phases. This project will not only provide much-needed housing for the area but it will transform the brownfield site into a highly contemporary, internationally recognised waterside residential quarter for families, individuals and couples alike."

Jonathan Falkingham MBE, who co-founded Urban Splash in Liverpool in 1993, added: "This new residential quarter is an exciting transformation for Merseyside and we’re delighted to be contributing to this emerging neighbourhood, bringing a wide choice of modern, innovative new homes for people to live in.

"We look forward to launching Town House for sale and unveiling the new Row House product – a typology that’s being delivered in Merseyside before anywhere else.

"We'll soon be commencing with the development of these unique modular homes which will appeal to and be attainable for a wide range of buyers across the region."
