THE Light Up A Life switch-on for Halton Haven Hospice takes place tonight.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend the event where loved ones are remembered as the Haven Christmas tree is lit.

The event, at the hospice on Barnfield Avenue, Murdishaw, starts at 7pm.

Hospice chief executive Viv Culleton said: "This is a wonderful occasion, and as much a celebration as it is a time for remembrance.

"We have been absolutely inundated with support from people who have lost a loved one over the years and are grateful for the services provided by the Haven.

"Their generous donations will help us continue our good work and we will be acknowledging each and every one of them individually as we head up to Christmas."

The Light Up a Life service will be accompanied by readings, Christmas carols and school choirs to make it a truly memorable occasion.

Viv Culleton added: "It really is an event that many, many people look forward to attending and we're looking forward to greeting them".
