THIS year's Halton Christmas Toy appeal has had a fantastic start, say organisers.

Launched three weeks ago the campaign aims to help ensure less fortunate children have something to enjoy this festive season.

More than 300 youngsters aged 0 to 18 have benefited from the appeal since it began five years ago.

Merseyflow, toll operators for the Mersey Gateway, kick-started this year's appeal with a £200 donation.

Just three weeks since this year's launch, two large boxes of toys have been dropped off by customers and staff at Merseyflow’s walk-in centre in Runcorn.

Teddies, fancy-dress and games are amongst the amazing toys that have already been donated.

Helen Williams, marketing manager at Merseyflow, said: "It's fantastic to have received such wonderful toys from our customers and staff to kick-start the appeal.

"There is a drop-off point at our walk-in centre and with such a promising start, we're hopeful that 2019 will be our best year yet for money raised and donations made."

Any toys donated need to be new and unopened.

You can donate at Merseyflow's walk-in centre, 9 Howard Court, Manor Park, Runcorn, WAS 1SJ until Thursday 12 December between 9am to 7pm Mon to Fri and 9am to 6pm Sat and Sun.
