THE exceptional talents of sporting individuals and groups across Halton have been celebrated in an annual awards ceremony.
The Halton Sports Award 2019 winners were:
- Sports volunteer of the year: Neil Flaherty for his work with Halton Swimming Club
- Young sports volunteer of the year: Ellen Lewtas for her work with Beechwood Netball Club Active Halton Award: Widnes Park Run
- Young sports person of the year: Theos McEvatt
- Sportsperson of the year: Caitlin Seddon
- Club of the year: Finesse Rhythmic Gymnastics
- Coach of the year: Laura Hogg for her work in Finesse Rhythmic Gymnastics
- Lifetime achievement award: John Twist for his services to snooker
Special guests on the night were ex-Liverpool and professional football player, Sean Hessey, Karen Tonge MBE, vice chairman of Halton Sports Partnership and Mayor of Halton, Cllr Margaret Horabin.
A special Award from the FA was presented by Sean Hessey to Mick Millea for 50 years of service to football.
A spokesperson for the awards said: "A massive thank you to all of the sponsors without whom the awards night would not be possible; Widnes Football Development Forum, Halton Borough Council and Boydell's Sports."
