A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after he was found collapsed at a popular beauty spot.
Police were called at around 10am today to reports that a man had been found collapsed at Rowley Lake, close to Bronte Avenue in Burnley.
The man in his 40s has been airlifted to hospital where his condition is unknown.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at around 10am to reports that a man had been found collapsed close to Bronte Avenue in Burnley.
"He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "A male patient in his 40s has been taken ill and airlifted to hospital.
"Two ambulances, an advanced paramedic and air ambulance attended the scene."
Eyewitnesses on social media reported seeing a helicopter land and about seven police cars at the scene.
They said the entrance to the lake, which attracts a large number of visitors, had been blocked off.
