A WOMAN was injured after shots were fired at a house in Widnes last night.

Police were called to Bechers in Hough Green shortly before 10pm yesterday, Saturday, after receiving reports of a firearm being discharged.

Several people were inside the targeted property at the time, with a 25-year-old woman suffering minor injuries.

Damage was also cause to the home, an investigations are ongoing.

Officers are conducting door-to-door enquiries as well as examining CCTV and forensic evidence, with increased patrols in the area in order to provide reassurance to residents.

Detective inspector Ian Whiley said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation and I urge anyone who saw or heard anything to please come forward.

“Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in this area at around 9.50pm?

“Any information, dashcam or CCTV footage you have could really help with our investigation.

“If you do not want to speak directly to the police you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

“Thankfully nobody inside the property has been seriously injured and at this stage I believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.

“However, I understand an incident like this can cause great concern to the local community and I want to reassure you that there will be an increased police presence in the area.
