A NURSE has retired after nearly half a century of working in the NHS.

Janice Love, a Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust district nurse in the Warrington area, has called time on her long career after 47 years.

Beginning her training as a state-enrolled nurse at the age of 18 at Withington Hospital, she moved to Warrington Hospital in 1975 – spending three years at the lovely Lane site.

After taking time out of the profession following the birth of her daughter, Janice, from Woolston, returned to nursing – working on the evening service, which allowed her to combine motherhood with her vocation.

Then, in 1998, she completed a conversion course to become a registered general nurse.

Over the years, Janice has worked in a number of different clinics at the Warrington area and is now a part of the district nursing team based at Spencer House in Birchwood.

Warrington Guardian:

The 65-year-old said: “I can honestly say that that I have had the best time working for Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

“I’m proud of the unwavering commitment of my colleagues to improve the lives of our patients in the local community.

“I have met and worked with many fantastic people who I am proud to call friends – I will miss the camaraderie, but fully intend to keep in touch”.

Janice’s colleagues have also paid homage to a ‘valued and much-loved’ member of the district nursing team.

Team leader Karen Lea added: “Janice is a valued and much loved member of the team.

“Over 40 years of service is an amazing achievement, and on behalf of the Bridgewater district nursing service we would like to thank her for her years of service.

“We wish her every happiness in her well-earned retirement.”
