MIKE Amesbury has spoken to pupils at St Nicholas Catholic High School about the work being done to prepare for their future careers.

The Weaver Vale MP also discussed the partnership between The Careers and Enterprise Company and Cheshire and Warrington LEP, with particular emphasis on what this means for students.

St Nicholas’ is part of The Careers & Enterprise Company’s national Enterprise Adviser Network, made up of more than 2000 schools and colleges across England.

And this partnership looks to support schools in building relationships with employers and delivering great careers education.

“As a former careers advisor by trade, it’s extremely important to me that our young people are getting all the advice and help they need to pursue their chosen path in life,” said the MP.

“The world of work is changing all around us and it’s really important young people get the proper guidance.

“I was thoroughly impressed by what I saw and heard on this visit and would like to congratulate everyone involved.”

Richard Woods, headteacher of St Nicholas’, added: “Careers education is central to our mission at St Nicholas’ in ensuring that every young person in our care is able to find their vocation in life, with the appropriate knowledge and skills to make a positive contribute to society.

“The support of the Network and our partnership with Roberta, our Enterprise Advisor, have been fundamental to the excellent provision here at St Nicholas.”
