RESIDENTS of Redwalls Nursing Home have said that living there is like living in a ‘five-star hotel’.

This was conveyed to Care Quality Commission inspectors during their latest visit to the Sandiway care home.

Praise was also given to staff members for having a person-centred approach when speaking to both residents and relatives.

And this was recognised by inspectors as they concluded that Redwalls Residential Home and the quality of care that it provides is ‘good’.

Speaking about the findings of the report, home manager Sarah Lyon said: “It has been a real team effort to return our home to a good rating and I am proud of all my staff for working so hard.

“It reflects what the community thinks about us.

“We are proud to be highly regarded as a friendly home offering really good person-centred care.”

In their report, inspectors noted that residents are treated with kindness, dignity and respect.

Residents are also complimentary about staff, with one stating: “Staff always give me a hug, know me and care for me.”

Inspectors recorded that residents are protected from poor nutrition and hydration, and that they speak positively about the food provided.

“The food is generally good, and you always get a choice,” another resident added.

Staff are said to have the knowledge, skills and experience to meet people’s needs effectively through the provision and availability of training.

Care planning records are clear and demonstrate what actions are needed to support people in their day-to-day life.

During their visit, inspectors spoke with residents, relatives, members of staff and management to reach their overall rating decision.

Redwalls Nursing Home was previously rated as ‘requiring improvement’ when inspected in July 2018, but this has now been upgraded to ‘good’.
