DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an altercation between a group of men in Ellesmere Port.

At around 9.15pm on Monday, October 7, officers received multiple reports of a disturbance in Parklands.

The callers reported a fight between a large group of men, some of whom were possibly armed with weapons.

Officers swiftly attended the scene but there was no trace of the group.

However, officers did recover a number of possible weapons, including a metal bar and blocks of wood, and found that two cars had been damaged.

A dispersal order was put in place to prevent any further disturbances.

Inspector Ian Stead, of Ellesmere Port Local Policing Unit, said: “We understand that an incident of this nature will cause concern in the local community and we are committed to doing all we can to trace those involved.

“At the current time we are in the very early stages of our investigation and we are trying to establish exactly what has taken place.

“To date, no victims have come forward and there have been no reports of any injuries.

“As part of our enquiries we are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or anything else that may be relevant to our investigation, to get in touch.

“The same goes for anyone who believes they may know who the men are, or have dashcam of CCTV footage of them.

“We will continue to have increased patrols in the Parklands area and anyone with any concerns is urged to speak to an officer.

“If you have any information or footage regarding the incident please contact us at Ellesmere Port Police Station on 101, quoting IML 533173.”
