AROUND 35 bands and artists paid tribute to River Reeves and Viola Beach at the weekend when the fourth Rivfest took over the Pyramid centre.

The one-day festival and celebration of River's life was headlined by Earlestown's The Ks and was held on three stages.

There was more of a collaborative approach to the event this year with River's family and main organiser Mike Grainger teaming up with Culture Warrington, Warrington Music and Liverpool collective Whispering Pines for the showcase of emerging bands.

Lee Harman, founder of Warrington Music, said: "The fourth year of Rivfest was my favourite by far. I was surrounded by friends and lots of exciting new music. It was a celebration of everything Viola Beach stood for. A highlight of amazing grassroots music in a safe, family-friendly environment.

"No matter which stage you visited throughout the day, there were highlights you wouldn’t forget, be it Saytr Play frontman conducting a singalong of Viola Beach's Boys That Sing from the crowd or Deja Vega’s belting set.

"Thank you to everyone who supported the event and filled the Pyramid to the brim. Look out for news about next year’s event."
