PERFORMERS of all ages took part in a sing and dance extravaganza at a Widnes care home to mark BBC Music Day.

Nursery children, a dance school, two choirs, community singers and a karaoke were among the entertainment at Halton View Care Home.

Clare Richards, home manager at Halton View Care Home, said: "We can't thank everyone enough for making our BBC Music Day event such a success.

"The community really came together to make it such a special occasion.

"Our residents absolutely loved every minute of it."

Mayor of Halton, Cllr Margaret Horabin joined the event to watch the performance of The Knights Community Singers, who sang Country Roads, By the Rivers of Babylon, Sweet Caroline and Penny Arcade among others.

Earlier in day, Little Planet Nursery children, aged from eight months to two years, sang and danced to Baby Shark, with elderly residents joining in with musical instruments.

Runcorn Community Choir and Mersey Wave Choir came together to perform Love Changes Everything, Hallelujah and You Raise Me Up.

The latter part of the day saw residents and visitors singing along to Neil Diamond, Elvis and Frank Sinatra during a karaoke session.

The Ceri Ellen Dance School attended with 30 children aged seven to nine years old, who performed a number of routines to hits from musicals Oliver and Grease.

BBC Music Day saw the launch of the BBC Music Memories website and its Memory Radio function.
