A 56-YEAR-OLD woman has died following a multi-vehicle collision on the M56 on Thursday evening (September 19).
Police are appealing for information following the incident, which happened on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 10 (Lower Stretton) and 9 (M6 Interchange).
It was around 5.20pm when emergency services responded to the serious road traffic collision which involved several cars and a HGV.
Sadly, a 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 62-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A further five people sustained minor injuries.
The carriageway was shut while emergency services worked at the scene. The road was fully reopened shortly before 5am.
