ROCK and roll legend Joe Brown returns to the Brindley Theatre in Runcorn later this month.

The Lincolnshire-born entertainer is at the venue on Thursday, October 31.

He has a new band for this tour, with more eclectic and with a different line up to before. It features, among others, Fiddle virtuoso Tom Leary, Ace Bass player Andy Crowdy and Joe's 27-year stalwart band member, drummer, percussionist and singer Phil Capaldi.

Joe, who now splits his time between the UK and Nashville, combines timeless classics, rockabilly, gospel, country, bluegrass, and rock 'n' roll, all interwoven with his effervescent delivery and humorous reminiscences and as Joe this sensational show is a musical journey not to be missed.

His Very best of album achieved Gold Record Status and was on the UK charts for eight weeks staying four weeks in the Top 20 and in the same year his 50th anniversary was celebrated with a sell-out show at the Royal Albert Hall.

And his new Ukulele Album caused a similar stir although branching out internationally and broke new territory for Joe in the download market where he is now a Spotify Legend.

The 78-year-old has been called many things – star, rock and roll legend, MBE, rock icon, guitar hero and can now add the title King of the Ukulele.

On his love of the instrument, he told our sister paper, Wirral Globe, in 2013: "I started playing it when I was a kid and have always loved it. It's got a very rich sound.

"I played it during the George Harrison tribute concert at the Albert Hall in London.

"Because of that, I’m now recognised in Nashville. I played there recently and people said 'hey, you’re the guy who played ukelele at George's show."

Looking back on his career, he said: "I've been playing since I was about 15 and turned professional at 18.

"There have been so many highlights, far too many too list.

"But I suppose the biggest was playing the Royal Albert Hall as part of my 50th anniversary celebrations. It was wonderful.

"I enjoy the fact that I can pick where I want to play on tour these days, instead of being told where I'm playing by a management company.

"It's not like the old days and gives you a sense of freedom."

Joe has continued to break box office records and recently received MOJO magazine’s coveted Outstanding Contribution To Music Award as well as a much deserved MBE.

Joe won over a whole new generation of fans performing on Later With Jools Holland and playing his part closing the show at the Concert For George Harrison.

A spokesman for The Brindley said: "You may have witnessed his critically acclaimed set at Glastonbury Festival or caught him on tour.

"If you have you’ll already know just what a terrific live talent he is."

The show starts at 7.30pm.
