PLANS have been approved to build 40 homes on the site of a former pub.
An application was issued in December to construct 40 homes at the site of the former Home Ground pub on Lancaster Avenue in Tyldesley, all available for affordable housing.
Planning documents state the Mulbury Homes Ltd development will be managed by Your Housing Group.
Six objections were made to the proposals.

One representation said "the council has poor control of the estate, allowing houses to fall into disrepair and attracting anti-social behaviour littering, dog fouling and general crime".
Another stated: "The street on which some live is very narrow and some residents are unable to park cars on drives because they can't gain access to it due to cars being parked on the road and pavements.
"To build more houses and cause more congestion and more cars and traffic."

Wigan Council gave the plans the green light and introduced a condition ensuring that sufficient homes will be available for affordable housing.
In response to the objections, the local authority said "the council's highway section considers that there would be no highway issues with the planning application".
In relation to crime and anti-social behaviour objection, the council concluded that "this is not a planning matter and beyond the jurisdiction of this application".
