THE Russett School is taking huge strides forward, as it embraces wholesale change across its curriculum.
The academy in Weaverham caters for children with special educational needs, aged from two years old up to 19.
Over the summer, its Middlehurst Avenue grounds saw a new playground installed for primary pupils, with new Forest Schools provision to develop learning outside the classroom.
The scheme supports children’s independence, self-esteem and life skills.
Meanwhile, the school has achieved Makaton Friendly status, recognising its commitment to inclusivity – a move followed by the whole of Northwich town centre.

This academic year will see a complete upper school redevelopment, with a view to enhancing the school’s curriculum offer for older students.
This includes sixth formers, with a five-year IT programme currently in development to bring further support for all learners.
