EVER wondered what happens to your rubbish after it is taken to a recycling centre?

Halton residents will have the chance to find out just that by signing up for a special tour of recycling facilities taking place this month.

It is part of a series of events hosted by Veolia, who manage the waste and recycling facilities in Liverpool and Wirral, on behalf of Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority.

Each location is offering free guided tours for people to discover how over 100,000 tonnes of recyclable material from homes in Halton, Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and Wirral is segregated for processing into new products, turning waste into a resource and helping us to build a sustainable future.

The tours will give people a chance to see behind the scenes and discover how a range of manual, optical and mechanical techniques turn the region's waste into a resource.

Afterwards there will be time to explore the recycling discovery centres where there will be refreshments and information to help you recycle correctly. Booking is essential.
