A FREE family fun day is set to return later this month after the last one was cancelled by bad weather.

The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, based near Lymm, is to hold its 18th annual family fun day on Sunday, September 22.

The event is free and organisers are hoping to make it better than ever.

Community fundraiser Rob Bashforth is organising the event.

He said: “The weather conspired against us last year and sadly we had to cancel the event at the 11th hour, which was such a difficult decision as we know it’s a firm favourite for many families.

“We hated disappointing so many people so we’re more determined than ever to make this year’s event the best yet.”

There will be something for everyone, young and old alike. From live music to classic cars, face painting to fairground rides and everything in between including the famous mascot race.

The charity is also appealing for sponsors to come forward to help them to meet the expenses of the event.

Donations of all sizes will be welcome and acknowledged in the event programme – anything from £10 to £10,000.

Rob added: “We hold many amazing fundraising events throughout the year, the family fun day is a great opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate the work we’re doing here at the adventure farm.”

The fairy princesses from Be Our Guest Entertainment will be joined by Stormtroopers from the 99th Garrison to meet and greet visitors, along with some larger than life mascots who will join in the fun.

The charity provides holidays and daytrips to terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the north west every year. Patrons include comedians John Bishop and Jason Manford, Cold Feet star John Thomson and 70’s rock legend Noddy Holder, and the charity boasts footballing legend Sir Bobby Charlton as their president.

The charity will also be keeping guests fed and watered with a BBQ and Hogroast. There’ll also be a traditional tea room and delicious ice cream served from a vintage VW Camper Van. Guests will also be able to view many of the charity’s excellent facilities, and even meet their alpacas, dinki donkeys, pygmy goats and sheep.

The free entry event will run from 1pm til 5pm.
