A FIRE broke out at a flat this morning, Sunday.

Two fire engines were sent to Norland Road in Widnes at around 9.20am where they found a blaze inside a third floor property.

Firefighters evacuated the building and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames and dampen down the site after the fire had been put out.

No-one was reported to have been hurt in the fire and the cause of the blaze has not been revealed.

Police were also in attendance and a road closure was in place.
