A NEW doubles domino knockout competition was launched at Welshpool in memory of Elizabeth Ann Jones of Hope, who died in February this year and who was a great supporter of Welshpool and District Domino Leagues, latterly as captain of the Green Dragon Buttington team.

The competition was organised by her family and played for the first time over three Thursdays at the Westwood Park Hotel with the final last week when it was announced that at least £200 had been raised for the Lingen Davies cancer treatment centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The trophy and the £200 first prize went to Andy Smart and Richard Thomas of the Powis Arms, Pool Quay, who beat Phil and Romaine Bayliss in the final.

Congratulations were expressed to the winners and thanks to all 39 teams who entered, to Tich and Di and staff of the Westwood and all who helped run the competition which is to be held annually in August from now on.

PICTURED are Ann's husband Ray with son and daughter Paul and Jackie making the presentations to the winner Andy and Richard last Thursday night.
