VOLUNTEER trustees are being sought to help preserve a Severn Valley landmark.

Rodney's Pillar on Breidden Hill was erected in 1782 to commemorate the naval victories of Admiral George Bridges Rodney,

A group To Save Rodney’s Pillar needs at least five trustees for this to be a viable project.as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

PAVO (Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations) has offered to provide training for potential trustees to show what the role involves, and this will held at Criggion Village Hall on Monday, September 2, at 7.30pm and will last about two hours.

If you are interested in becoming a trustee, or simply want to find out more about what it involves, email rodneys.pillar@constantstar.co.uk so that PAVO can bring enough training materials. There is no commitment at this stage and you may be hiding some useful skills either as a potential trustee or as a volunteer.

The CIO has to be set up first before any fundraising can begin and a lot is also going on in the background. To be kept up to date with progress via e-mail, email rodneys.pillar@constantstar.co.uk
