EVERY student at The County High in Leftwich achieved at least six GCSEs as the school celebrates its ‘phenomenal’ exam success.

The anxious wait over the summer holidays ended for pupils across Cheshire, who eagerly opened their results this morning.

And staff at the school have paid tribute to the hard work of all students, who are now well equipped to move on to the next stage in their lives.

The County High Principal Matthew Snelson said: “From working with the class of 2019, I am delighted that their focus, hard work and dedication has resulted in phenomenal success.

“The reformed GCSEs are more challenging, requiring students to study more complex content and face exams that are harder and bigger in number.

“I am particularly pleased that every single student is leaving the Academy with at least 6 GCSEs, including in English, Maths and Science, ensuring they are well-equipped for the next stage of their lives.”

Looking at the results in more detail, 96% of students at The County High achieved grade 4 or above in English, alongside 91% in Science and 90% in Maths.

In both English and Maths, 88% of students achieved grade 4 or higher, while 27% achieved grade 7 or above.

“The success the class of 2019 have achieved is testament to their resilience and commitment, and as always, they can be proud of their results.” Mr Snelson added.

“I did fantastic and I’m really happy,” said Joshua, who achieved an 8 in Spanish and 9s in all of his other subjects.

“I’m planning to go to Sir John Deane’s to study Chemistry, Physics and Maths and I’ll be going for a meal with my family to celebrate tonight.”

Gurleen, who also achieved nine 9s and one 8, added: “I’m over the moon with my results and I definitely did better than I was expecting.”
