A MICROPUB is seeking permission to enable it to extend its opening hours for times of year when demand is greater.

The Firkin in Newton-le-Willows has submitted a request to St Helens Council to extend the times it can open.

The pub says it would not be looking to make use of the extended hours all the time but to enable it to have flexibility for certain times of the year "if demand dictates" such as around Christmas.

It is eeking permission for extended hours from 1pm to 11.30pm for Mondays to Thursdays; to continue the same hours from noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 11.30pm on Sundays.
