Workers at a regional airport, including baggage handlers, are to be balloted for strikes in a dispute over pay and conditions.
Members of the GMB union at Liverpool's John Lennon Airport will vote in the coming week on whether to launch a campaign of industrial action.
Strikes could be held over the August Bank Holiday weekend if there is a yes vote.
The GMB said workers employed by Swissport are unhappy with health and safety issues, working practices and pay.
GMB official Eddie Parker said: "Despite numerous attempts at constructive discussions, our relationship with the company is fundamentally broken.
"The last thing our members want to do is go on strike, and it is not too late for the company to get round the table and thrash out a deal."
The dispute involves around 200 workers.
