A SHOP and community space paying tribute to Viola Beach is launching in a new location on Sunday.

The team at Vintage Viola are putting the finishing touches to their new home at Golden Square after previously being based at the Cockhedge Centre.

The first floor of the new store will sell clothing, bric-a-brac and accessories in aid of the River Reeves Foundation while upstairs will be named ‘Frontline’ where you can grab a coffee and read a book. It will also be a space for young musicians to play music.

Sharon Dunne, founder of Vintage Viola, said: “The River Reeves Foundation is a small, grassroots organisation with a real one-of-a-kind charity shop dedicated to the band members of Viola Beach.

"The initial thoughts and concept behind the store is that the band and artists similar to them bought all their clothing in charity shops and we wanted to create a space where aspiring performers could find their style with Vintage Viola."

Vintage Viola will be hosting a family and friends event on Thursday before officially opening on Sunday.

The River Reeves Foundation was founded in November 2016 – just months after the tragic crash in Sweden which claimed the lives of Viola Beach members Kris Leonard, Jack Dakin, Tom Lowe and River Reeves and manager Craig Tarry.

It was launched in memory of band members of Viola Beach. The charity’s aim is to help young people pursue careers in performing arts.

Ian Cox, centre director of Golden Square, added: “Vintage Viola really is a charity shop with a difference and is going to be a brilliant addition to the centre.

"With youngsters interested in performing arts being given a community space to become musicians and the funds raised going into the River Reeves Foundation, it really keeps the incredible talent within Warrington and the surrounding areas alive, making it a fantastic legacy for Viola Beach.”
