STAFF at a Runcorn opticians have launched a fundraising drive to thank the Cystic Fibrosis Trust for 'incredible' support given to a colleague whose daughter has the condition.

The team at Specsavers have, so far, raised £650 through in-store events including a raffle, book sale and donations from customers.

Staff have also donated gifts to create a large hamper of prizes for one lucky winner – worth over £150 – with all proceeds to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

The charity funds cutting-edge research and drives the standards of care received by people suffering from the condition as well as providing support for their loved ones every step of the way.

It is close to the hearts of those working in the Runcorn Specsavers, especially store assistant Nicola Roberts.

Daughter Holly was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at just 10 weeks old, and faces physical challenges on a daily basis.

Now, aged 14, she continues an intense treatment regime of over 25 tablets per day and daily sessions of physiotherapy to maintain a good standard of health.

The trust has supported Nicola and Holly for several years, including providing them with a holiday grant – a fund offered by the charity to help towards the cost of trips and short breaks for those with cystic fibrosis and their families.

Nicola Roberts said: "My little girl Holly has suffered with cystic fibrosis her whole life and the support we've been given from the Cystic Fibrosis Trust has been incredibly beneficial.

"The holiday to Spain they provided us with was just the family getaway we needed and it's amazing that they offer this to so many families going through the same thing as us.

"Thanks to the whole of the Runcorn Specsavers team for fully supporting the fundraising drive and helping us raise a fantastic amount.

"We're a family here at Specsavers and it's been really heart-warming to see the whole team so keen to help."

Chris Graham, retail director at Specsavers Runcorn, said: "I'm really proud of Nicola and the rest of the team for putting in so much effort and managing to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

"It's a great organisation and Specsavers are proud to support them in any way we can."
