A FIRE that spread to a commercial premises in Widnes is believed to have been started deliberately.
Fire crews from Widnes and Penketh were called to a fire at a commercial property at Upton Rocks Co-Op on Queensbury Way at around 10.45pm on Tuesday.
The fire was at the back of the building but broken through the ventilation ducting and spread to the inside of the premises.
Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put out the fire.
They then cleared a large amount of smoke from the building using a large fan.
Crews were at the scene for two hours and 40 minutes.
The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
Cheshire Police have launched an investigation into the cause.
