HALTON'S mayor has been made an honorary Rotarian by the Runcorn society.
Councillor Margaret Horabin received the honour during a meeting of the group this week.
President Tony Rudder gave a brief on the last year's activities and demonstrated how members had tried to live up to the theme of People of Action.
President Ken Tonge then received his chain of office for 2019-20.
In his first address, he encouraged the community of Runcorn to come forward and join Rotary or be Friends of Rotary so that more activities could take place.
Also during the meeting, past President Tony Rudder presented a Paul Harris fellowship to Ros Gregory for her work in the community especially the environment and mental health in recent years.
President Ken concluded the evening displaying his new Rotary shirt alongside the Purple4Polio Banner as he went to India to carry out immunisations three years ago and recently did The End Polio Now 3k walk in Hamburg.
