AN ultra high-definition screen and more than 600 reclining seats are among the improvements that have been unveiled at Odeon Warrington.

The Westbrook cinema has relaunched as ‘Odeon Luxe’ where the emphasis is on the quality and comfort of viewers’ movie experiences. The new-look picture house will feature 624 luxury reclining seats across its 10 screens, offering film fans triple the legroom as well as individual retractable tables. A state-of-the-art 100-seat ‘iSense’ screen is also being introduced for a ‘truly immersive cinema experience’.

A spokesman said: “Taller than a double decker bus, the screen will measure 15m by 6.2m and is curved to maximise light reflection, packing cutting-edge Dolby Atmos 3D sound and 4K digital projectors that deliver almost nine million pixels for an even clearer, ultra-high definition picture.”

A total of 238 new speakers are being introduced across all screens with surround sound coming as standard with the Dolby 7.1 system while guests who are hard of hearing can take advantage of a new audio description system.

There is even a new lighting system which will minimise distractions and improve viewing the screen from different angles.

The upgrade is said to have been timed for the season’s blockbusters like Toy Story 4 (June 21), Spider-Man: Far From Home (July 2) and the live-action remake of The Lion King (July 19).

Phil Brotherton, general manager at Odeon Luxe Warrington, said: “The Warrington community has always been supportive of us so we are thrilled to bring them a fully-upgraded, luxury cinema.

“Odeon Luxe Warrington will bring the town’s film fans an unrivalled cinema experience and we can’t wait to welcome them.”

Meanwhile, the cinema’s food and drink offering has been given a boost.

The new Oscar’s Bar will sell beer and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, along with a Costa Coffee store onsite.
