ROAD improvement works to enable a new Runcorn Station Quarter got underway this week.

The first phase of the work is taking place on the closed section of the 'trumpet loop' to the rear of ATS Garage towards Shaw Street and will involve removing the existing road and construction of a new link towards Runcorn Station.

The second phase of works will reconfigure the link from Greenway Road to the new station access link, again this will be undertaken on existing closed roads, with the third phase of the road improvements seeing the construction of the new roundabout - these works will be completed around autumn 2019.

No additional road closures are envisaged for this phase of the work, with access to all businesses in the area (including Inflatanation; Camponile Hotel and Early Learners Nursery) unaffected.

The road improvements are the first step towards achieving the vision for Runcorn Station Quarter to create an impressive gateway to Runcorn, Halton and the Liverpool City Region, that welcomes visitors, improves connections and opens up opportunities for new businesses, leisure and housing.
