RESIDENTS in Runcorn and Widnes are being urged to nominate their life savers, health heroes and community stars for St John Ambulance's Everyday Heroes awards.

Taking place every year, the awards celebrate people who have bravely stepped forward by saving lives or have had a impact on community health through volunteering.

Categories include: Young Hero, Community Hero, Volunteer Hero and Workplace Hero.

The ceremony, which will take place in October at Hilton London Bankside, will also reward 'outstanding' contributions from St John Ambulance volunteers.

Jane Cameron from St John Ambulance told the World: "St John Ambulance is looking for the nation’s life savers, health heroes and community stars ahead of the 2019 Everyday Heroes awards.

"The awards celebrate individuals, groups and teams who have bravely stepped forward in the moments that really matter, saving lives with first aid or impacting community health through volunteering.

"Last year’s winners included a teenager who came to the rescue of a stabbing victim outside her home, a father and son team who saved the life of a former Olympic boxer when he collapsed on their golf course and a football medical team who have successfully resuscitated five patients who have suffered cardiac arrests at their stadium since it opened."
