POLICE have launched an investigation after two Widnes pubs were burgled.

Two men, one wearing a grey hoodie, broke into the Horse and Jocky pub on Birchfield Road sometime between 12.30am and 12.45am on Monday, June 3.

On Tuesday, June 4, police also received a report that Widnes Conservative Club on Victoria Road had been broken into at around 1.50am.

Cash was snatched from both pubs.

Police enquiries are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with any information or footage from around the Birchfield Road and Victoria Road to come forward.

Detective sergeant Roberts, of Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “The burglaries were carried out on consecutive nights.

“There is no evidence at this stage to suggest that the burglaries are linked but we are keeping an open mind.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are determined to catch those responsible and bring them to justice.

“As part of our enquiries we are appealing for anyone who was in the area of the Horse and Jockey pub on Sunday night or Widnes Conservative Club on Monday night and witnessed anything suspicious to get in touch.

“The same goes for anyone who believes they may have seen, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of, any of the offenders or have information regarding their identities.”
