BRADLEY Smith will compete in his first race on an electric motorbike in July.
A revised schedule for the new MotoE World Cup has been announced, with six races to be held in 2019, starting at the Sachsenring in Germany.
The championship had been due to start earlier this month in Jerez, supporting the fourth round of the MotoGP World Championship.
But a fire in the paddock during testing at the Spanish circuit in March destroyed the majority of the bikes, forcing the cancellation of the series opener.
The causes of the blaze remain under investigation, but Smith, from Forest Hill, who will ride for the One Energy Racing team, and the rest of the riders will be able to take to the grid in five weeks’ time.
The opening round will take place at the Sachsenring on July 5-7, with the Red Bull Ring, Austria, hosting the second race on August 9-11.
The remaining four races will then be split across two weekends at Misano, Italy, on September 13-15 and Valencia, Spain, on November 15-17.
A test will be held in June at a circuit yet to be confirmed.
