EARLY morning trains will be in service this Sunday for runners who are taking part in the Liverpool Rock'n'Roll Marathon.
The race, which takes place on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, will see hundreds of people flocking to take part and watch the spectacle on the streets of the city.
Merseyrail say that they have put on extra, earlier services after receiving feedback from passengers last year.
Andy Heath, managing director for Merseyrail, said: “The Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon is a fantastic and hugely popular day in the Liverpool City Region’s calendar, and we want to make it as easy as possible for runners and spectators to attend.
“These early trains will get our passengers into the city centre from across the region with plenty of time to prepare and focus on the race ahead.
"Best of luck to all taking part – Merseyrail are rooting for you!”
The following additional services will run on Sunday, May 26:
- 6.53am from New Brighton
- 6.59am from Hooton
- 7.01am from West Kirby
- 7.06am from Hunts Cross
- 7.07am from Ormskirk
- 7.08am from Southport
- 7.13am from Kirkby
