MEET the country’s only junior rugby league team for people with learning and physical disabilities...which is being run by the Saints.

Saints Community Development Foundation set up the squad to support children and young people with special needs between the ages of five and 14.

Training sessions take place every Thursday evening, from 5pm until 6pm at the Ruskin Drive sports complex.

Gareth Foster, Saints' disability coach, said: “I believe this is a fantastic initiative.

"We are always looking for new players to join us and being able to bring these sessions to younger members of our community is great.

It’s brilliant to be a part of the ever growing sport of Disability Rugby League, helping the sport develop and move forward.

"I hope to see new faces at our sessions in the near future and I cannot wait to get started.”

SCDF will be helped by YMCA Y Sports and Mark Jennings, St Helens sports development manager.

Mark added: “It is great for us to be a partner with Saints Community Development Foundation in the delivery of the newly formed Junior Disability sessions, continuing our involvement in the initial Saints disability squads.

“Our staff loved being involved and this is a great opportunity for them again and for the players. The sessions and the squad are a perfect example of Y Sports looking to be inclusive for all and we thank the Saints Community Development Foundation for the chance to be involved.”
