DISRUPTIONS were caused on the railway line due to trespassers on the track this morning.

Northern Rail said trespassers on the line between St Helens Central and Thatto Heath stations caused delays.

Trains are now running as normal again.
Meanwhile, lines were also blocked on lines between Newton-le-Willows and Eccles due to a fault with the signalling system.

Trains are running at "reduced speeds" on this route. Some cancellations between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria have been made.
