A NEW website project has been launched giving details of Warrington’s amazing artists and artisans.

The Warrington Creatives Collective was set up by Jeni Jacques-Williams, who herself teaches ceramics classes at her Lemon Studio in Grappenhall.

With the collective, she said she wanted to create a central place for the town's budding artists to discover what classes are on offer in the area.

“From running my own classes, I realised that there was no place or website for people to find out what creatives are running workshops in Warrington,” said Jeni.

“I decided to go ahead and set up the website as I felt it was important to bring the towns creatives together in a kind of directory for people to access.

“So far we’ve had 19 artisans sign up, showcasing their work and details of their workshops in studios across Warrington.”

Jeni also feels that many more creatives will join the collective in the near future, offering a great way to find different classes on a variety of artistic processes.

“We’ve currently members who run workshops on pottery, soap making, jewellery, textiles and many more,” she said.

“But there are so many different art forms that people will be experienced in across Warrington that people do not know about, including water colour groups and photography classes.

“We have some budding creatives in the local area who are starting out as small businesses with classes, the collective gives them to showcase this along with their work.”

The collective is also hosting an inaugural Open Studio event next month, in which studios across Warrington open their doors for people to try their hand at different crafts.

“This large creative event is a great way to get the message out about creative and artistic classes in our town,” added Jeni.

“People can look online to see which studios are involved and open, so they can have a go at different artistic opportunities.

“There will be demonstrations from the creatives listed on our website, who will then giving people who attend the chance to have a go at various arts and crafts.

The Open Studio event will take place between 10am and 4pm on Sunday, June 23.

Access to all venues will be free of charge, however there will be a nominal charge of £4 per activity attendees have a go at to cover materials.

A passport for 3 activities can be bought for £10.
