WE asked you to let us know about the employees who go above and beyond when it comes to good customer service.

And it was lovely to read the entries that flooded into us.

Based on the volume of nominations and the nominations that had a really personal touch, we have put together the following shortlist for this week's category in our first Customer Service Awards.

Warrington's Best Employee is the final category in this year's competition with the winners announced in a special feature later this spring.

THE SHORTLIST FOR WARRINGTON'S BEST EMPLOYEE

Angela Perkins - Designer Travel by Angela Perkins

This award-winning travel agent has been turning holiday dreams into a reality for 25 years.

Whether it's family holidays or bucket list trips, nominations from Warrington residents said she was 'always on hand to help' and praised her knowledge and enthusiasm.

One nomination added: "Ang not only secures the best price for holidays, she also takes the stress out of booking and provides that extra special personal touch which makes all the difference.

"Her knowledge and enthusiasm are second to none and when it comes to arranging the finer details and keeping in touch Ang is always on hand to help."

Jennifer Ashdown - Debenhams

Described by one nominator as the 'most hardworking person I have come across', shoppers and colleagues said she 'deserves endless recognition'.

The Debenhams employee has been working at the Golden Square store in Warrington for eight years and can often be found in the travel money department.

One nomination added: "It can be very stressful working in the travel money bureau, especially in summer, but Jen will go above and beyond to help us all in there.

"She is only a sales advisor, not a supervisor or manager, yet she spends her time helping everyone and fixing every problem.

"She will come into work early or stay later, even without being paid, if it means she can finish a job before she leaves.

"Even when she has holidays booked, we have a work group chat and she is constantly messaging back to people when they ask for help.

"She is just one of the most caring, hardworking people I've had the pleasure to ever work with and I just want her to get the praise I know she deserves."

Lyn Tryner - Lyn's Curtain Corner on Knutsford Road

Lyn is self-employed and has worked for more than 30 years in her shop making 'some of the best curtains in Warrington'.

One nomination added: "She has even travelled as far as London to make curtains for Harrods.

"She works on her own with no help from anyone which means that some days she will be in work from 10am to 8pm or even later.

"There are times in work where she will have no lunch or food all day as she doesn't want to take a break from work and ensure customers always get their curtains quickly.

"Not only does she run the shop but she also donates her spare fabric to schools, created a market in Latchford village and has made a huge flag for Warrington Wolves."

Mackies Travel - Birchwood

The man behind this taxi service was described in one nomination as the 'most reliable and friendliest in town'.

A nominator added: "Steve is an all-round good guy and his taxi service is spot on.

"He's always on time, keeps you informed if traffic is bad and replies to messages really quickly.

"He deserves to be recognised for his hard work and dedication."

Sam Poston - self-employed singing/acting business

Based in Woolston, Sam juggles working at a law firm part time with providing singing and acting lessons across the town.

One nomination said she works 12 hour days six days a week so as to ensure she doesn't let anyone down and gives up her Sundays so that the children can put on shows and gain confidence on stage.

The nomination adds: "She is the most passionate person I know when it comes to caring for children and helping them to progress and be proud of who they are.

"She puts so much effort into ensuring they can not only depend upon her for growth in singing and acting but also as a shoulder to cry on should they be finding school difficult or should they be struggling with finding themselves or accepting who they are.

"She has an innate ability to bring them out of their shells and has had children who have ended up on the West End recently.

"She is the hardest worker I know and it's all for the reward of seeing the children happy."
