FOOTBALL manager Joey Barton has been disqualified from driving for six months after being caught speeding along the M56 in October.

In December, the 36-year-old was also caught speeding in his Mercedes along Lunts Heath Road in Widnes.

A separate charge from January 18 for failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle was withdrawn.

Solicitors representing Barton appeared at Warrington Magistrate's Court on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to both offences.

The court heard how on October 20 last year, Barton was caught exceeding 70 mph on the westbound carriageway of the M56.

Due to his 'repeat offending', the court banned the Fleetwood Town manager from driving for six months and he was fined £333.

On December 5, Barton was caught speeding along Lunts Heath Road in Widnes.

He was ordered to pay a £666 fine and court costs totalled £400.
