A HEALING event in an authentic 24ft tipi is helping people to relax.

The Earth Spirit Tipi, which is based in Latchford's New Routes Community Garden, was attended by around 30 people.

And further relaxation and meditation sessions and workshops are planned in the coming months.

Lynsey Tidbury, organiser of the events, said: “We are a multi-faith community in Warrington who gather in the tipi to explore all areas of spirituality, consciousness and sustainable living.

“The whole idea is to get members of the community together in one place, and the tipi is the perfect location for us to do so.

“It’s just a really nice place to be in and relax, with the sessions also helping to heal us spiritually.”

This healing event included a ladies workshop led by guest facilitator, Cali White, who is currently undertaking a pilgrimage across the country to honour her ancestors.

In doing so, she is delivering 13 workshops entitled ‘Full Moons and Medicine Spoons’, which are designed to heal the ancestral wounds caused by witch burnings between the 15th and 17th centuries.

Lynsey said there are plenty of other events in the pipeline for people to attend.

"We gathered in the tipi and shared meditation, drumming, singing and talked about the burning times," she said.

“As well as special guest events like this one, we do monthly meditation nights, drumming circles, healing groups, comedy nights and craft workshops.

“I teach a lot of meditation in Warrington and in different schools in the area, which can really help with mindfulness and well-being, especially for people who are feeling under the weather or alone.”

The tipi also donates money to charity, MacIntyre in exchange for using their space behind Victoria Park, and is in its third year of spiritual community events and gatherings.

“Our classes are getting bigger and bigger all the time and people are visiting us from all over the area,” continued Lynsey.

“We do hold regular events but for some such as this one, we have to have a waiting list as the tipi can only fit in around 30 people.

“We’re currently putting together the final details for a couple of summer events, and we’re excited to get them under way.”
