FIRE crews were busy last night dealing with three incidents including a smoking shelter on fire, a barbecue blaze and a pallet at a skate park being set alight.
At 9pm last night, Friday, April 19, one crew was called to Fairfield Road in Widnes to deal with a small fire next to the funfair caused by a barbecue left close to a bin but not extinguished properly.
A water backpack was used to extinguish the remaining flames.
Later that night at 9.44pm, one engine from Widnes was called to the skate park on Queensbury Way where a wooden pallet stacked against a bin had been deliberately set alight.
A single hose reel was used to put out the flames.
Lastly at 2.20am this morning, Saturday, April 20, two engines from Penketh and Widnes were called to a smoking shelter at the back of a nursing home on St Michael’s Road, Widnes.
They used a single hose reel to put the fire out, while the incident had also caused damage to a van parked nearby.
They were at the scene for around 50 minutes.
