BURGLARS have fled empty handed from a sports club in Runcorn today, Monday, after breaking in.

Detectives investigating the incident at Runcorn Sports Club in Moughland Lane are now appealing for information and footage from members of the public.

At around 2.30am today, Monday, April 15, three unknown males entered the premises wearing dark clothing with their hoods up and their faces concealed.

They made unsuccessful attempts to break into gaming machines and a safe and fled when an alarm was triggered.

Detective sergeant Rob McLoughlin, of Runcorn Local Policing Unit, said: "Burglary is a serious offence and in this instance the offenders targeted a sports club that serves the community.

"We are determined to establish who the three males are and make them face the consequences of their actions.

"Enquiries are ongoing and I appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time that the burglary took place and thinks they may have seen the offenders, or anything else that may aid our investigation, to get in touch.

"The same goes for anyone who thinks they may know the identities of the offenders or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them."

Anyone with information or CCTV footage should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 374558, give the details online or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Dashcam footage can be submitted online.
