A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital due to a collision with a car on the Mersey Gateway bridge.
The incident occurred southbound from Ashley Way to the Daresbury Expressway.
Lanes two and three were closed for approximately one-and-a-half hours to allow the emergency services to deal with the scene but are now open.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 2pm on Monday April 1, police were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the Mersey Gateway, Queensway in Runcorn involving a motorbike and a car (Ford Focus).
"Emergency services arrived at the scene and the motorbike rider has been taken to Aintree Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries."
