WRITERS from an over 50s group in Halton are proving anyone can write as their work is displayed to the public.

The Years Ahead writing group is open to anyone over 50 with an interest in writing and recently its members were able to display their work at Runcorn Library in the Old Town.

Members have also read out their work on the radio in the past, had it displayed at The Brindley theatre and even published a book of their collected works, proving writing is open to everyone.

There are many different writing styles to try, including poetry, short stories and radio plays.

The group meet regularly between 10am and 12.30pm on Thursdays at Grangeway Community Centre in Runcorn.

Writer Julie McKiernan who leads the group, said: "We’re looking for more members to come and join our friendly group, whether you’re retired, over 50, lonely bored or stressed – just come along and meet like-minded people, have some fun and enjoy yourself.

"No experience required, just a desire to write!"

Years Ahead celebrated its 20th anniversary last year and also offers craft and art sessions in Ditton, Widnes on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm.

Sessions will restart on May 1, costing £4.
