MUMS across Halton who are uncertain or struggling with breastfeeding can take advantage of two new support groups.

Breastfeeding support groups have been set up in Widnes and Runcorn by the Halton Infant Feeding Team to offer families in the region answers to questions about feeding their baby.

In Runcorn, the group will be every Thursday at Shopping City in the community hub.

In Widnes, it will take place every Tuesday in the Marks and Spencer Café at Widnes Shopping Park.

As well as home visits, the team run drop-in support groups for mums and families to come along, with their babies and other children, and get advice and support from breastfeeding support workers and to socialise with other parents.

Chloe Loseby, store manager of Widnes Marks and Spencer, said: "We’re delighted to bring this support group to our café!

"We’re very family friendly and get lots of new mums here and staff will help any mum who needs to feed their baby.

"These support sessions are a great opportunity to get help and share experiences with other parents."

Halton Borough Council's executive board member for health and wellbeing, councillor Marie Wright, said: "We encourage all new mums to take advantage of these groups, where there is a great opportunity to learn from and share experienced with each other."
