FIREFIGHTERS responded to reports of smoke coming from a Runcorn commercial building this morning, Wednesday.

At about 9.20am, crews from Runcorn and Widnes attended the suspected fire in Pembroke Court but found that the smoke was caused by overheating in a wax making process.

Firefighters, using breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to cool the equipment and cleared smoke from the building.

They were there for about an hour.
