DEVASTATED Widnes Vikings fans are rallying for financial support from fellow supporters following today's news.

The club are being placed into administration and if no investor comes forward the club will go into liquidation.

Fans are now appealing on social media for people to donate to the club.

Anne-Marie Hughes, who is a business woman in Warrington and sponsors some of the players and matches at the club, has provided a way for people or businesses to donate large sums of money through a sponsorship account which is completely separate from the club.

She said: "My concern was that there were people out there who could donate a lot of money.

"It's going into a treasurers account and will be transferred to the club as and when it's needed.

"There no risk because it can be refunded at any time."

Anne-Marie explained that the money can be refunded to individuals should the club be taken over.

Other options include negotiating shares or player experiences based on the amount of money donated.

If people are not happy with any deals made, the money can also be refunded.

At a press conference earlier today at Halton Stadium, Peter O'Hara, from administrators O'Hara's LTD, said: "The reality is that unless some investors are found this week, the club will be in the same position again next week and unable to play due to insurance.

"To a large extent, unless investors are found pretty quickly the club will go from administration to liquidation.

"And that would be the end of Widnes, which I am sure nobody wants."

There is also a JustGiving page where people can donate smaller amounts of money.

This page has currently raised more than £5,000 in two days with a target of £10,000.
