A KINDHEARTED young man from Cronton is tackling a 25-mile route for charity to help countries in poverty.

Brendan Conder, 21, is planning a sponsored walk tomorrow, Saturday, along the Trans Pennine Trail from Stretford in Manchester to Spike Island in Widnes.

All funds raised from the trek will be donated to Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).

The international charity has a vision for a world without poverty and a mission to bring people together to fight poverty and marginalisation.

VSO delivers knowledge, skills and training to communities in need though volunteers who are placed in 24 developing countries.

Brendan aims to raise £800 for the charity and has already received more than £500 in donations.

He said: "I really enjoy walking, especially through rural and countryside areas and I thought this would be an enjoyable way to raise money."
