A UKULELE group in Runcorn is looking for new venues to perform in and raise money for charity.

The Palacefields Ukulele Group is a group of 17 people who came together four years ago and they are currently raising money for sufferers of Dancing Eye Syndrome and their families.

Dancing Eye Syndrome is a condition mostly affecting children which causes abnormal and chaotic eye movements

They are jerky and correspond with jerky movements which develop in the limbs, particularly the arms.

The cause of it is not currently know but it is thought to be an auto-immune condition.

Gail Hampson, chair of the Palacefields Ukulele Group, said: "There's a young lady in the area who will be running the London Marathon in aid of people with Dancing Eye Syndrome.

"It is not well known so we are trying to help.

"We go around to different places and play and collect donations for anyone who needs some help for charity.

"We're just trying to raise awareness."

The ukulele group meets every Tuesday from 2.30pm in Palacefields Community Centre.

Everyone is welcome, including complete beginners without an instrument.
